If you are a parent or guardian looking for a British school which has been inspected and accredited to the same standards that schools are required to meet in England, you can check a list of accredited schools on the Department for Education website.
Accreditation ensures that schools provide their pupils with the knowledge, skills and qualifications they need for the British education system. Approved by the Department for Education in England, inspectors carry out their work to the same standards as for independent schools in England and Wales.
If you are the owner or headteacher of a school outside the UK which offers a British education, you can apply for the English Department for Education’s overseas accreditation.
You can find out more about the British schools overseas inspection scheme, or arrange an inspection for your school, on the British government services website.
