The Trees and The Wires is a collaboration between artists Benny Widyo (ID) from Gulung Tukar arts collective and Ella Chedburn (UK). This project will be conducted from March – May 2023.

It is an art project and residency that manages myths and archives about environmental issues in Tulungagung. The story about Ringin Kurung (Planting 7 Trees) will be the project's starting point. The collaborators will conduct a series of collaborative activities including research, experimentation, and presentation.

Gulung Tukar (ID)

Gulung Tukar is a multidisciplinary cultural arts collective based in Tulungagung, Indonesia. They are focusing on creating cultural spaces that are safe for everyone to critically engage with the arts.

Benny Widyo (ID)

Benny Widyo is a curator based in Tulungagung, Indonesia who focuses on issues of equality and accessibility. He believes that inclusivity is a value of a developed cultural arts ecosystem.

Ella Chedburn (UK)

Ella Chedburn is an artist based in Somerset, England, merging nature, technology, and mysticism. Her practice dreamily blends fact and fiction, using anything from experimental digital media to traditional printmaking.
