British Council Indonesia, in partnership with Yayasan Jakarta Biennale, proudly supports British Artist, Jeremy Millar, to participate in Jakarta Biennale 2015. Jeremy will conduct series of public lectures and workshop in Jakarta & Bandung in mid-November.
Jakarta Biennale is a biannual international art exhibition. It was pioneered by Jakarta Arts Council (Dewan Kesenian Jakarta) since 1974. It is now organized by Jakarta Biennale Foundation, an independent institution founded in 2014 by art practitioners consisting curators and artist, who has experience managing art organization in Indonesia for many years.
With the theme “Neither Back Nor Forward: Acting in the Present”, Jakarta Biennale 2015 seeks to concentrate on the present while refusing to indulge in past nostalgia and future utopia. The artists will explore the economic, social, and emotional realities of the current society through three main themes: water, history, and gender. Throughout its programmes, Jakarta Biennale 2015 aims to highlight the small victories that people experience in daily life despite the difficulties.
