Teresa joined British Council Indonesia in January 2014 as the Director of Education and Society, a role which covers education, youth and sports, social enterprise, active citizens and 21st century skills.

Teresa first came to Indonesia in 1988 as a backpacker on her way to Australia. She decided she would return to Indonesia – a decision which led to an Undergraduate degree in Indonesian and Politics and an MA in Indonesian and Malay Studies, both taken and the School of Oriental and African Studies, University of London.

Teresa also spent two years at the University of Leiden as a Research Associate on a programme focused on ‘verbal arts’ in the audio-visual media of Indonesia. Since graduating, Teresa has had the privilege of working in Indonesia, Malaysia and Timor Leste as well as the UK, mainly in education, media, arts and culture and human rights.
