Last week during Fashion Revolution Week (24 - 30 April 2017), we celebrated the global fashion movement by collaborating with designer Wilsen Willim, Fashion Revolution Indonesia, and Indoestri MakerSpace to held an Open Studio where fashion enthusiasts can learn to sew their own clothes with guidance from Wilsen. The young and talented designer, Wilsen Willim, was approached directly by Tamsin Blanchard, TANK Magazine's Fashion Director, who also serves as the curator and initiator of Fashion Revolution Open Studio initiatives.
"Open Studios is an opportunity to shine a light on a group of emerging designers – and some established trailblazers – who are finding alternative ways of producing fashion that is mindful of the planet and its resources." - Tamsin Blanchard.
About Fashion Revolution
Fashion Revolution is a global movement that runs all year long. They celebrate fashion as a positive influence while also scrutinising industry practices and raising awareness of the fashion industry’s most pressing issues. They aim to show that change is possible and encourage those who are on a journey to create a more ethical and sustainable future for fashion.
Fashion Revolution has initiators around the world. In Indonesia, the Fashion Revolution team is lead by Imanzah Nurhidayat (Iboy), a Co-partner of MakeDoNia Makerspace Jakarta who is actively infusing DIY and Maker Movement in Indonesia.
