In an effort to support the further development of the creative industries in the UK and internationally, the Young Creative Entrepreneur (YCE) Awards 2014 was held for leaders who are shaping the creative future. In Indonesia, British Council announced the YCE Award 2014 in Live Music at an event at the Goods Diner, SCBD, April 15th, 2014.

As one of a British Council arts programmes, the YCE Award aims to build cultural connections between young people aged 18-35 who make innovations in the creative and cultural industries around the world. The programme includes opportunities for showcasing, collaboration, innovation and professional development with a number of events and projects throughout 2013-2015.

Through an online application and interview process, the judging panel identified emerging leaders in creative businesses, who are able to make international connections and to use these to benefit others by having a positive economic, cultural and social impact in communities.

Entries were received and judged by British Council and industry professionals including Yoris Sebastian (CEO of OMG Creative Consulting & YCE Music Award Winner 2006), Adib Hidayat (Editor-in-chief of Rolling Stone Indonesia) and Perry Parikesit (Head of Marketing and Promotion, Universal Music Indonesia). Finalists were chosen after a three-phase evaluation and interview process. 

Robin Christian Ferrodus Malau from Musikator came as the winner. He participated in a shared tour of the UK’s live music sector on 4-12 May 2014 along with winners from other countries. It was a curated trip to the UK to gain unique access into the UK industry and act as a springboard for future business collaborations between the UK and internationally not to mention attendance at key UK industry events; including three days at The Great Escape – Europe’s Leading Festival for new music.
