Betty Purwandari is the Information Technology Director at the University of Indonesia (UI).  She has led an overhaul of the university’s strategic plan for IT, which has included the large scale collection and analysis of data to improve efficiency throughout the university.

With 45,000 students and 3,000 faculty members at the University of Indonesia, the improvement of IT services has had a major impact on how the university conducts its academic, research, and community engagement on a national scale, for example by offering MOOCs to those who would not otherwise be able to access university education.

Betty obtained her PhD in Computer Science from the University of Southampton.

During her studies at the University of Southampton, Betty experienced superb IT services which raised her expectations of how a university’s IT systems should be managed and delivered. She has also had the opportunity to work with world-class IT experts in Southampton.

She is a scholarship recipient of The Faculty for the Future-Schlumberger Foundation.
