Nanik Indarti, is the founder and initiator of the Unique Project Theatre. She is graduated from Indonesian Institute of the Arts, Yogyakarta, Special Region of Yogyakarta. She is as a person with Achondroplasia which is characterized by a stunted body and disproportionate body size such as height 90 -135 cm. Nanik Indarti founded the “Unique Project Theatre” which is a community in the field of art consisting of little people. With it, they can express themselves through theater arts freely.

She successfully made a theater performance entitled "The Same Shoes". The performance uses a grant from Cipta Media Ekspresi. This fund is intended for women who are actively working in the field of arts and culture. This performance was held on November 16th, 2018 at Pendhapa Art Space, Krapyak, Panggungharjo Village, Bantul Regency, Special Region of Yogyakarta.

Theatrical performances entitled "The Same Shoes" which involved seven women and four men with dwarf bodies from various cities such as Malang, Blitar, Banyuwangi, Surabaya, Aceh, Kalimantan, Kulon Progo, and Yogyakarta. This event also collaborated with Flying Balloons Puppet, Shadow Batik, Multimedia, and Music. This describes an extraordinary story about the life journey of a person with Achondroplasia who is considered less than perfect because of the body size. The right size of shoes is an important benchmark for creating comfort in using shoes. They encountered problems with the size of shoes because they are not sold in stores in Indonesia, instead of they get shoes only for children and do not fit for them. The size for the shoes is actually 31 cm. No matter the size of shoes and body, they can prove their worth to everyone even if they have weaknesses. They can rise up to face the challenges in front of them and fight for themselves as human beings. Theatrical performances are what they prove that perfection is not a regulation that is mutually agreed to but, on the every for soul who followed through it.

Nanik Indarti and friends together voiced the rights of persons with disabilities through theatrical performances. They often get problems such as discrimination against the persons of Achondroplasia. For example, bullying in a job that does not meet company criteria such as a minimum height of 165 cm, a beautiful and attractive body appearance; frequent exploitation and ridicule that become a laughing stock for them, especially in the world of entertainment; they don't get proper access to education and public transportation because of bullying who are said to be dwarfs. In accessing public transportation, they cannot ride motorbikes for adults so motorbikes must be modified with suitable model for them.

Along with the "Unique Project Theatre", she wrote a book entitled "I am the unique woman". The book that tells about the experiences of seven women and about the long journey of self-acceptance that requires an open heart is not an easy thing for them. The price of the book is IDR. 125,000, - and is still being sold independently by Nanik Indarti herself.

The “Unique Project Theatre” costs around seventy-two million rupiah and takes about eight months. Nanik Indarti also spent a lot of money on unexpected things such as rental prices for theater performances place, art prices such as stage decorations, lighting, sound systems, music which was very expensive. In addition, she has to incur personal expenses for actors who are sick from losing their voices, suffering from coughs, fatigue, and supplements or vitamins for them. This project involved a hundred people and of course to make a successful the theatrical performance, they had to work hard together with the same goal. The theater was free for tickets and with four hundred audiences.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, Nanik Indarti continued to carry out activities through online such as group discussions with the people of Achondroplasia from several other cities in Indonesia, presenting the videography "Share With You", the photos and stories from the people of  Achondroplasia, and also create a virtual stage show. In the future, she wants them to receive higher education, work as ordinary people, receive the government attention for accessibility and companies to accept them so that they are able to become independent human beings and develop in the future to make big changes in this world.
