Being a disabled person does not hinder Anfield Wibowo, a deaf painter with Asperger Syndrome, to create artwork. Under the tutelage and love from his parents, Dony dan Vera, Anfield grew to be himself and continues to be a mature person.
Currently, Anfield studies in SLB B Pangudhi Luhur High School Jakarta where he confidently shows his ability to do daily activities by himself, without any help from his parents or other people. One of his activity is painting, a skill that he developed from his childhood and he continues to hone and grow. Now, Anfield has claimed himself as a painter.
Throughout Anfield’s life, his physical conditions of being deaf and having Asperger's syndrome has caused problems in communicating and socializing with people. Anfield has been able to overcome obstacles as as he continues to grow and learn from his own experience. Anfield is determined to overcome the obstacles he faces by suppresing his issues in communication.
With his limitations, Anfield is able to deliver his message so that people can understand him, and vice-versa, by using writing tools, smartphones, body gesture, or simple sign language, or even saying simple words that he learned from school. Also, painting is one of his way to communicate his intentions and dreams.
The conditions does not stop Anfield to achieve his wishes, hopes and dreams. The persistence and artistic ability that he demonstrates reflect his spirit to be productive in limitations by practicing diligently, including painting. Anfield has proven to himself that by creating, disabled people can overcome any ostacles. Not only from himself, but also the loving support from his parents helped him overcome any obstacles and and be able to pursue his passion in paintings and become a painter.
