Gerobak Bioskop: Layar Inspirasi, a mobile-cinema cart, comes to Jakarta to show a series of selected UK films from BAFTA.
In collaboration with Serrum Studio, Gerobak Bioskop: Layar Inspirasi brings back the spirit of Indonesian traditional ‘Layar Tancap’, an outdoor cinema screening at celebratory parties and festivals. At the heart of Gerobak Bioskop: Layar Inspirasi is the spirit of shared experience – a night fair and a place for social interaction as much as watching films.
Following a screening in Bandung as part of UK/ID Festival's opening event, the showcase now comes to Jakarta before travelling to Surabaya.
In Jakarta we will be working with Think Web to deliver their regular programme Bioskop Bisik. Bioskop Bisik or Whispering Cinema, is where volunteers from Think Web whispers audio description of the movie they are watching to blind and partially sighted audience member, that will hopefully provide audience with a good film watching experience.
The showcase is followed by a two-day schools workshop where students make new films inspired by UK short films.
The screening is free. Schools workshop are limited to students of the participating schools only.
