Jakarta Fashion Week 2015

Indonesia Fashion Forward is a business skills development programme delivered in partnership between British Council with Jakarta Fashion Week, Indonesian Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy and London’s Centre for Fashion Enterprise. Now in it’s third year, the programme offers capacity building and business skills guidance to a group of talented young fashion designers in Indonesia, to prepare them for penetration into the international fashion market and showcase in international fashion weeks. 

Every year, the Indonesia Fashion Forward would invite a group of young talented fashion designers from different backgrounds such as luxury fashion, quirky ready to wear, muslim wear designers and accessories to join the programme. The Indonesia Fashion Forward third generation includes designers Patrick Owen, Sapto Djojokartiko, Jii by Gloria Agatha, Restu Anggraini, Tertia by Capital T, Fbudi, Monstore, Rosalyn Citta, Billy Tjong, Andhita Siswandi, Norma Hauri and Peggy Hartanto. 

The Indonesia Fashion Forward third generation designers will showcase their collections in the Indonesia Fashion Forward shows from 1 – 3 November at Fashion Tent, Jakarta Fashion Week and participate in the Fashion Link trade show at the Hall, 8th Floor, Senayan City Mall from 3 - 7 November 2014.

Fashion Machine – Come visit our exhibition and installation to discover the best of UK and Indonesian fashion and digital media practices. The exhibition will be on display every day throughout Jakarta fashion week from 10am-10pm featuring exclusive new fashion films and photographs created this year as part of the fashion image-makers project, taken part by Indonesia Fashion Forward designers Sapto Djojokartiko, Billy Tjong and Norma Hauri. 

Take the chance to see behind the scenes of glamorous fashion photo shoot in our Live Photo Shoot each day. This is an exciting new concept of fashion voyeurism that you can gain first-hand foray into the ways some of the most memorable fashion images from Indonesian Fashion Forward and UK fashion designers are created. There will be live-shoots, demos and other events scheduled throughout the day featuring UK fashion practitioners Darren Black and Rebekah Roy. These will be live and free of charge for a public audience from 1 – 7 November 2014 at 1st Floor (in front of Topshop & Promod).

About Darren Black

Photographer Darren Black grew up in Europe and Hong Kong, worked in New York and moved back to London. He has shot campaigns for Crime London, Harvey Nichols, Mahogany Hair Salon, 9London, Curbwear & Wilkinson Sword as well as the AMCK Showpack S/S15, & has been featured in Vogue, Elle, Dazed, HUF, Beige, Fault, 1883, XO, L'autre, Papercut, Fantasticsmag, Disorder, Coitus, typeface, TMRW, Narcissus & Rogue (he is currently on the mast head as Editor at Large, London). Darren is also a course leader at the London College of Fashion styling team.

About Rebekah Roy 

Rebekah Roy is one of London's top fashion stylists and creative consultants. She is the Fashion Director of Disorder Magazine, and the UK Fashion Editor of The Untitled Magazine. She styles for a wide variety of clients from Visa, Nintendo, Harvey Nichols, John Lewis and Virgin to celebrity clients including Kate Nash, Nero, MTV's Becca Dudley, The Feeling, Sarah Brightman and Billy Idol. Rebekah styles several catwalk shows during each London Fashion Week and is a judge at the WGSN Global Fashion Awards, Graduate Fashion Week and panellist at the Drapers Fashion Summit. She also sits on the Advisory Committee for The Industry London, and the Selection Committee for Graduate Fashion Weeks, the Ones to Watch and Merit Award at Fashion Scout.

The British Council and Jakarta Fashion Week are delighted to present the first ever showcase in Asia by leading British designer Kitty Joseph on 3 November 2014 at 5.30 PM in Fashion Tent, Jakarta Fashion Week at Senayan City Mall. 

Kitty has presented over 10 collections in London and New York. She has been commissioned by Carine Roitfeld and Lady Gaga and has been featured extensively in Vogue UK, Vogue Italia, W Magazine, I-D, Tatler, AnOther magazine, Pop, Stylist, Six, Hunger and many more. In addition to selling in London, Paris, Italy – Kitty is also stocked by various boutiques across Asia including Liger (HK), Stunning Lure (JP), Garden Girl (TW) and Daily Projects (KOR). She also took part in London Fashion Week’s first ever digital schedule.

In Jakarta Fashion Week 2015, Kitty will present her brand new Spring Summer 2015 collection, which has taken London as her inspiration with print, colour and shape evolving from the views at her South London studio. Inspired by the artist Patrick Caulfield Kitty has transformed acute observations of everyday London into urban exoticism – perfect for Indonesia and Jakarta. Chequered print motifs and signature perspex accessories echo floods of light and colour from the studio’s geometric framed glass windows, whilst hazy gradients of resonant of the subtle changes in London light. 

Kitty will also participate in Fashion Link trade show from 3 – 5 November 2014 at the Hall, 8th Floor, Senayan City Mall.
