Ms Brilianti, French language teacher in a vocational school in Jakarta is concerned about her students unable to get a job in the future because they are lacking the skills to compete. She believes that teachers have the responsibility to find solutions to motivate students to keep on learning.
For nine months, British Council in a collaboration with the HSBC Indonesia provided a series of Core Skills training for more than 1,000 people consisting of school superintendents, school leaders, and teachers from high/vocational schools across two largest cities in the country. Teachers, like Ms Brilianti, sees such training as an opportunity to stay relevant, to get creative, and to be enthusiastic. She believes that when a teacher is passionate about her profession, it will inspire students to learn more.
